Keira Knightley

Knightley was born in London, her parents being Will Knightley and Sharman Mcdonald. Knightley was able to get her first agent when she was just six years old and began working in television and commercials. She was in 1999 when she portrayed Sabe on Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Her first big breakthrough was as a tomboy footballer in the sports film Bend It Like Beckham (2002) in which she went on to achieve international fame for her role as Elizabeth Swann in the swashbuckler fantasy series Pirates of the Caribbean, from 2003. Knightley was regarded as the next big thing in the world of teenage stars after being featured on screen in Love Actually (2003). Knightley received her first Academy Award nod for Best Actress in 2005 for portraying Elizabeth Bennet, the heroine in the classic romance Pride & Prejudice. She was also a star in a range of period dramas with her character playing a complicated love passion on the screen in Atonement (2007), tastemaker Georgiana Cavendish as The Duchess (2008), and playing the titular socialite in Anna Karenina (2012). In contemporary dramas, she branched out, appearing as an aspiring musician in Begin Again (2013) and the medical student as a medical student in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014). Knightley was back in historical films with The Imitation Game in 2014 in which she received an nomination for the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress.
